Friends of Kelana Jaya Park is a community based NGO that is actively involved in environmental issues.
VISION
To make Kelana Jaya Park a.k.a. Taman Bandaran Kelana Jaya, the most popular and environment friendly neighbourhood park in Selangor.
MISSION
To make Kelana Jaya Park a clean, healthy, safe and sustainable place belonging to the Petaling Jaya community.
OBJECTIVES
Kelana Jaya Lakes are prominent urban lakes in Selangor, Malaysia. Located in Damansara River Basin, the lakes were developed as a Public Park that provides tranquility and enjoyment to people from all walks of life from the hustle and bustle of city life. Nonetheless, these intangible benefits have been diminishing purely due to continuous pollution by the surrounding areas at a very consistent rate.
As the result, a rehabilitation program was initiated in 2002. The first phase of the program was about community awareness and empowering the community to participate in conserving the lakes’ ecosystem and its biodiversity. Consequently, the program has managed to generate positive responses from the community and has established Friends of Kelana Jaya Park in 2005.
